Company history COSYS Ident GmbH
COSYS Ident GmbH was founded in 1982 and had a strong focus on hardware until 2002. At that time, the company was managed by Dieter Scholz, who has since passed away. From 1982 to 2000, the barcode or 2D code technology and its integration through connection to PCs was sufficient for COSYS to be one of the market leaders in this formerly "very innovative technology".
In 1990, COSYS began its strategic focus on software for mobile data capture and its transformation into a system house with a comprehensive range of solutions. Business process optimizations in the simplest form for mobile stocktaking (inventory) were already well received by large chain stores such as Metro, Woolworth, Praktiker and Esprit. They shaped the later development and brought strong growth to COSYS. Equally contributing were the ties formed at that time with large industrial customers such as Mercedes, Bosch, Audi, Siemens or ZF through the competence in the needled and lasered 2D code area (Direct Part Marking), together with the need for special cameras to capture the coding.
Since 2006 Dirk Baule has taken over COSYS as managing director and owner.
Since 2016, the management structures have been established in middle management and competence and responsibility have been transferred to the division heads from sales, IT, technology/project management, but also human resources and finance.

As a pioneer in Germany, COSYS has grown as a hardware provider and service provider in the Auto-ID field since 1982.
- Software programming since 2000
With the 1990s and intensively since the 2000s, the orientation towards software development came more and more into focus. The first solutions were created natively on mobile devices and handheld scanners in the simplest form. The first solution ran on proprietary models from Panasonic and Denso BHT. The importance of software development has always been growing for COSYS.
- Managing Director of COSYS
Dirk Baule took over 100% of the company in 2006 after the less successful years 2003 to 2006. Structures were restructured and the focus was once again shifted more strongly to software development and services.
- Android solutions and IOS
COSYS began developing for Android operating systems on mobile devices back in 2012. IOS software programs have also been available since 2017, and smartphone scanning software solutions have become well established.
- Cloud operation
Cloud systems have grown significantly in 2017 and even more in 2018. At the moment, complete systems are operated in the cloud below the customer´s ERP systems on a 24/7 basis.
- Further growth
With the year 2019, the customer base grew by many new large customers and corporations through ever better and more innovative solutions. But also our solid base of smaller and medium-sized companies was expanded.
- Expansion of the management
With the strategic future orientation towards further development and future challenges on the market, the management of COSYS Ident GmbH has been expanded. Since January 2020, the management and development of the company is jointly in the hands of Dirk Baule, Brian Kunze and Daniel Schulz.
In the coming years, the aim will be to continue the solid, intensive growth.
COSYS Software and Hardware Competence
The hardware share of COSYS is still very high, as the hardware and IT infrastructure competences are still important building blocks for our customers and their complete solutions. To this day, COSYS assumes the totality of responsibility for hardware, software and infrastructure for a pleasant "Customer Journey". The broad complete solutions for Auto ID and Data Capture with our own outstanding software are a COSYS success factor and our USP / unique selling proposition.
Today, Android and IOS are the dominant mobile operating systems.
COSYS has been developing software for mobile devices since the advent of the first Windows operating systems. Today, COSYS is considered an innovative provider of complete solutions tailored to customers in the field of mobile data capture for Android and iOS. Despite the withdrawal of Windows from the market, Windows systems continue to be supported. Today, the focus of development is on Android as well as iOS. The applications in the Apps and Playstore, together with the COSYS Cloud systems, take on the greatest importance for the future.
